Polk County Historical Association held its 38th annual Pioneer Luncheon on June 21 at the Bartow Civic Center. In addition to a presentation by guest speaker Polk Property Appraiser Marsha Faux, another highlight of the luncheon was the recognition of 16 Pioneers — Polk County residents who are 79 or older and have lived in the county a minimum of 50 years or were born here. The majority of those attending hailed from either Bartow or Fort Meade. Not all honored were able to attend.
