A joint investigation between Bartow Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of 30 people on drug charges early Thursday morning, June 28. According to Sheriff Grady Judd, testimony from those arrested in “Operation City Sweep” added an additional nine people who are still being sought.
Neighborhoods in Bartow that were identified as High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) had been under surveillance since August 2011. The investigation netted not only drugs, but stolen weapons, including a shotgun, and thousands of dollars in cash. Those arrested all had extensive records, said Judd.
