Leaner Charter Schools budget leads to cuts

Budget cuts have been made at all six schools in the Lake Wales Charter School system this year, but Lake Wales High School may feel the pain most keenly.

The Lake Wales Charter Schools budget is $30.6 million, which is $2.1 million less than last year’s. The shortfall is due to a number of reasons, according to the budget narrative, among them declining property values in Lake Wales and a reduction of approximately $88 in the allocation per student received from the state’s Education Finance Program.
