The fact his contract was not going to be renewed came as no surprise to Danny Adams, the now-former principal at Bartow Middle School. The school had dropped from a C to a D following the latest FCAT results. That meant changes had to be made.

“I received a call last Wednesday that my contract was not being renewed,” said Adams. So rather than be fired, he tendered his resignation. He would have preferred remaining. “I’m disappointed. I was here 19 years.”
