Bad soil being removed, road closings continue

Cars make their way toward downtown Bartow on U.S. 98 this week. With the construction on Van Fleet and Broadway, cars have temporary lanes and directing motorists to the S.R. 60, U.S. 98 and toward U.S. 17.

On U.S. 98 from County Road 540A to State Road 540 Florida Department of Transportation crews will remove contaminated and impacted soil from along the old railroad bed located along the east side of U.S. 98 and immediately west of the Fort Fraser Trail. The project begins north of County Road 540A and ends south of State 540.
Daily work runs from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. this week.
