Eighth-grade girls from all around the county, 100 in all, had a day of fun and learning recently at the Kennedy Space Center. The trip, sponsored by NASA, was part of their initiative to increase female personnel in the aerospace industry, according to Lisa Patterson, Title One coordinator at Bartow Middle School. About 30 of the girls were from BMS and by all accounts had a great time.

The girls were nominated for the trip by their teachers.
