Thanks to astute budgeting by City Manager George Long and city supervisors and managers, city employees are seeing something they haven’t seen for a number of years: Raises, or as Long referred to them, pay adjustments.

“It’s been nearly five years,” Long said of the last time raises were issued. He said it was long overdue, especially in light of the fact that the cost of living had risen (he estimated) between 11-12 percent over the past number of years.
