Joyner is the new assistant principal, and Gordon the new principal at Bartow Middle School.
This past school year, when several Polk County Public Schools dropped to a D on the FCATs, something had to be done if the Schools System did not want any of them possibly sinking to a failing grade for the 2012-13 school year. Were that to occur, the state would take over running the school, a prospect no one even wanted to consider. One such school on the brink was Bartow Middle School.
However, the challenge of turning around a school’s fortunes appeared to be a daunting task. But there were people the school system administration had confidence in; people they knew had already turned low performing schools into high achievers. Hence Angela Gordon and Bryant Joyner were assigned to BMS as its new principal and assistant principal, respectively.
