Grand prize winners were Julie Kincart, first place; Lee Faneca, third place; and Jeri Cartwright, second place. The three of them also won (in the same order) in the Imaginative Category.

As expected, the third annual A-C-T Chili Cookoff, Wednesday, Oct. 24, on the campus of the company, was a success, with a crowd estimated to be more than 200 attending. The event was the kickoff for the company’s United Way of Central Florida drive.

This year’s competition drew more than 30 entries in three categories: Mild, Hot and Imaginative. Judges this year included Polk County Tax Collector Joe Tedder; Bartow Commissioner James. F. Clements; Polk County Fire Rescue Chief David Cash; Haines City City Manager Ken Sauer; Lakeland Deputy City Manager Tony Delgado; Terrie Lobb of Terrie Lobb Catering; Richard Tillis, of Mosaic; United Way of Central Florida Executive Director Terry Worthington; George Lindsay, candidate for Polk County Commissioner, District 1; State Rep. Denise Grimsley, and State Rep. Ben Albritton.
