Richard M. Weiss was not even allowed to attend the farewell party being given in his honor Friday, Jan. 4, by employees of the Clerk of Court office; actually, he was not permitted to enter the Oliver Green (a/k/a “Ceremonial”) Courtroom, at least not until 2 p.m. Until then, Weiss stood in the lobby of the courthouse. Every so often, he would greet someone walking by, usually in a joking manner.

“Hey, your honor,” called out Weiss to a man walking by, who replied.
