They may have been dressed in clothes from The Civil War, but Jordyn Webb, 6, and her mother Tonja, were dancing to the Michael Jackson music being played Saturday at the 12th Annual L.B. Brown Heritage Festival last year. This year's festival is scheduled Feb. 8-10.
The Polk County schools can take advantage of an educational opportunity over the weekend of Feb. 8-9 as the 13th Annual L.B. Brown Festival in Bartow will feature representatives of the Civil War period with United States Colored Troops, Buffalo Soldiers and Black Seminoles dressed as they did then and performing demonstrations of what it was like then.
The annual festival returns Friday, Feb. 8-Sunday, Feb. 10 and early registration prices are available now for vendors to sell and show items there. Details of the prices are at www.lbbrown.com. Groups interested in performing on Saturday and Sunday can call 863-534-0100 and ask for Pamela Sams.
