If you plan on eating lunch at Especially 4 U Restaurant and Catering, you had better be fast. The small, comfort food restaurant has earned a strong word-of-mouth reputation and the tables fill up in a flash. And they are celebrating their second anniversary Friday with some great specials: buy one meal, get one half price, and free desserts.

The menu changes weekly, with southern favorites such as meatloaf, smothered pork chops, collard greens, cornbread and chicken pot pie being favorites with the clean plate club. Sirloin steaks share top billing with corn casserole and grilled squash. You can eat breakfast there as well. Pretty much something for everyone.

The good news is, they’re open seven days a week, unusual for a downtown restaurant, and they have done so since starting up two years ago. And it’s a testament to their quality and service that although they are tucked away at the end of the business district, they are so well-known.

Glenda Mizelle has become a regular customer. “This is my third time here,” she said. “I always know I’m going to get good food.” And she brought along first-timers, family members Rob Hill and Greg Mizelle, who agreed with Glenda’s assessment.

There’s kind of a family atmosphere at Especially 4 U, with owner Shayan Jones bustling about making sure everyone is happy and well-fed, and the servers doing the same.

There are two private dining rooms for parties and meetings, and both were full.

Jones said that Friday, Jan. 18, is the actual anniversary date, although they have been celebrating all week long. She hopes that all her customers show up Friday to take advantage of the special.

Prices at the restaurant range from $1.99 for a small soup, to $10.99 for a sirloin with two sides.

Especially 4 U is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They cater as well, and the phone number for placing orders or making reservations, is 863-537-6373.
