Wayne Wyant, Sr.
Wayne Jackson Wyant, Sr., 76, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at his home in Bartow from respiratory failure.
Wayne was born June 19, 1936, in Baldwin, Fla., the youngest of 13 children. He was a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church, where he previously served as treasurer.
Mr. Wyant retired from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with more than 27 years of service and also served in the Florida Air National Guard. He was the owner of Wyant’s Photography.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Wyant of Bartow; two daughters, Diane Pannebaker and husband Parker of Bartow and Edie Roden and husband Jim of Winter Haven; three sons, Wayne “Jack” Wyant, Jr., and wife Pam, John Wyant, Sr., and wife Crystal, and David “Pudge” Wyant and wife Dawn, all of Bartow; a sister, Mary Price of Waynesville, N.C.; a brother, Ernest Brock of Panama City; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 5-7 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., at Bartow First Assembly of God. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
