Phyllis Gail Newsome Baggett

Ms. Phyllis Gail Newsome Baggett, 71, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at her home of heart failure.

Mrs. Baggett was born in Fort Meade, Fla., on Aug. 23, 1941, and was a lifelong resident of Fort Meade and surrounding area.

She was a shipping and receiving clerk for U.S. Agri-Chem in Fort Meade.

Ms. Baggett was a member of the Victory Life and Praise Church in Bartow and she was also a graduate of Fort Meade High School, Class of 1960.

Ms. Baggett was preceded in death by her parents, Carl H. and Frances Newsome, Sr., brother, Carl H. Newsome, Jr., sister, Linda Newsome Yeomans, nephew, Kenneth Yeomans.

She is survived by her son, John A. Baggett, Jr. and wife Kim, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Susan Y. Strickland and husband Greg, Bartow, Fla.; sister, Laura Faye Wiggins and husband Marvin, Bartow, Fla.; sister-in-law, Irene Newsome, Gainesville, Fla.; nieces and nephews, John Leslie Yeomans, Keith Ferrell Yeomans, Christina Lynn Yeomans, Carl H. Newsome, III; grandson, Gregory James Strickland; step-grand daughter, Carrie Stricklan; great-grandson, Daniel Agner.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade.

Funeral service from the Graveside was in Evergreen Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.,
Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
