Lies before truth
This letter is about the Benghazi attack on our consulate and the handling of it by our administration. It was a terrible tragedy that we lost an ambassador and 3 other fine Americans. This was a preplanned terrorist attack by a known terrorist group, with ties to Al Qaeda, on Sept. 11, 2012. It was the first successful attack on our people since 9/11. It was not an outgrowth of a protest over a vile video as the administration claimed for almost 2 weeks after the attack. The State Department had video and telephone contact with the consulate for the entire attack and know that there were no protest going on there that night, just the attack which lasted for 5 hours and involved RPGs heavy weapons and biodiesel cans to start fires. This information was known by the highest levels of our intelligence and State Department the day after the attack. Yet 5 days later our deaths ambassador to the United Nations goes on 5 different Sunday shows to tell a false story about the deaths being caused by protests over a video. Then our president goes before the United Nations and never says that it was a terrorist attack except in the broadest of terms and talks more about the video story. They lied to the American people and the world for 2 weeks until the facts just screamed the truth.
They knew or should have known the truth-this was an organized attack on our Consulate — If they didn’t know then our intelligence people are totally incompetent, which I seriously doubt or the administration chose to lie to all of us because it might disturb the president’s image on foreign policy. Never mind that 4 Americans were killed. Our State Department knew and the other high officials, including the president, should have known the true facts the day after the attack and they chose to blame a video instead. Shame on all of them and shame on you if you can still trust them with our critical nations security.
