In the face of the continuing economic slump nationwide, the City of Haines City is in the process of doing some serious belt tightening.

That task is made more difficult by the fact the debt service on loans for Lake Eva Park and the new city hall/library is a significant budget item. City Manager Ken Sauer said the interest rate on these loans is low and that refinancing is not an option.
