At approximately 1:15 p.m., Monday, June 25, the Haines City Police Department investigated a traffic crash resulting in a fatality on U.S. 27 North at Old Polk City Road. The traffic crash involved five vehicles: three tractor-trailer trucks and two passenger vehicles.

According to the Haines City Police investigation, a 2002 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer driven by Johnny Jose Fernandez Santos, 45, of 600 Candlewood Lane, Orlando, failed to stop at the light and rear ended a Jeep Wrangler operated by Frank Everette Reid, 51 of 4008 Alafia Blvd., Brandon.
