Purple Heart County needs veteran’s stories
In an effort to share the many stories of valor and sacrifice made by Purple Heart recipients in central Florida, the Polk County Board of County Commissioners is asking the county’s many Purple Heart recipients to tell their stories.
“As part of our effort to make Polk County one of the nation’s first Purple Heart Counties, we are asking Purple Heart recipients to share their stories of how they earned their award,” said Mike Mason, supervisor of veterans services. “These stories will help the community understand the sacrifice these brave veterans made to help protect our freedoms in times of war and better appreciate why we need to honor them by becoming a Purple Heart County.”
