County Administrator Ricky Helms’ employment was terminated Tuesday morning by a 3-2 vote of the Highlands County Commission.

Commissioner Barbara Stewart made the motion to terminate and it was seconded by Ron Handley. They were joined by Commission chairman Jack Richie in the vote to oust Helms from the county’s top job. Commissioners Don Elwell and Greg Harris voted to keep Helms.
