Troubled young people who run away from home now have some places in Lake Wales they can go to as a temporary safe haven.

The Lake Wales Fire Department and the Lake Wales Care Center are partnering with the George W. Harris Jr. Runaway and Youth Crisis Shelter in Bartow to provide shelter for children ages 10 to 17 who may be in a crisis situation at home and decide to leave.
