One of the most popular plant displays at Bok Tower Gardens features the Tillandsia, an air plant on display outside the Visitor Center. Now visitors will be able to learn how to create and care for their own Tillandsia display on Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The workshop will be held in the Tower & Garden Gift Shop and will be included with general admission. Plants and materials for displays will be available for an additional cost. Visit www.boktowergardens.org to view a video demonstration on how to create a Tillandsia display.

Tillandsia is the largest and most diverse genus in the bromeliad family. With more than 2,500 species of bromeliads, there are approximately 550 different Tillandsias, including the Florida native, Spanish moss. Tillandsias require no soil and derive all of their nutrients from the air and water. The most well known bromeliad is the pineapple.
