The interchange at U.S. 27 and State Road 60, which City Manager Terry Leary describes as having a “very bleak appearance,” could become greener if Lake Wales can work out a maintenance agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation.

The item will appear on the Lake Wales City Commission’s agenda during its Sept. 5 meeting that begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The city commission usually meets on Tuesdays. However, its first meeting in September will be held on Wednesday. The change is being made in order not to conflict with the Polk County Commission’s budget meeting Tuesday.
