On Tuesday, at McLaughlin Middle and Academy of the Arts, the school offers a chance for parents to meet their children’s teachers, sign their families up for public library cards, and to peruse the offerings at the school’s book fair.

According to spokesperson Fannie Paige, during the open house, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the media center, parents who wish to obtain library cards (Polk County Public Libraries) need to bring a photo ID with a Polk County address. A driver’s license with an out-of-county address needs to be supplemented with a lease agreement and/or property tax statement from within Polk County. Library cards can be issued for each member of the family during the open house, Paige said.
