Salvation Saloon member Grizzly says "first impressions can be misleading." The group, which travels the United States looking for opportunities to minister, came to Lake Wales for the first time this week, working in conjunction with the Lake Wales Care Center and some of their programs.
When 33 bikers on Harleys and other motorcycles roared into Lake Wales on Monday morning, one downtown merchant asked, “are we being invaded?”
“Yes,” answered Paul White, “but we’re here to help.” A former police officer, White is the pastor of Salvation Saloon, a motorcycle ministry based in Palm Harbor. What started as a biker church that meets at a bar for what Smith called Sunday morning’s “greatest happy hour” has become a hands on mission to help communities throughout the nation.
