Oct. 8 marks 50 years since the first Catholic Charities office opened in Central Florida. The non-profit social service agency has expanded their services to the growing needs of the community. One million people have been assisted during the 50 year history, it reports. A proclamation marking Catholic Charities was presented at the Polk County Commission meeting Tuesday. Accepting it were Joe Buranosky, executive director of Catholic Charities, and Brenda Reddout, Western Regional director who was in attendance to accept the proclamation.
Catholic Charities programs in Polk County include:
