Mosquito treatment schedule
BARTOW, Fla. - (Oct. 15, 2012) – The Mosquito Control Section of the Parks and Natural Resources Division has intensified inspections and treatment of known mosquito breeding areas, and is conducting ground and aerial spraying as needed to control adult mosquito populations based upon mosquito trap results and citizen service requests. Residential inspections are also performed to find and eliminate breeding and biting mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes are generally most active at dusk and dawn; however, the floodwater mosquitoes can bite during daylight hours. The best protection from mosquito-transmitted diseases is avoiding exposure to infected mosquito bites.
