John Mentz loves garbage. At an open house last Friday, the owner
of JLM Equipment, Inc. in Lake
Wales was all smiles when he talked about trash. “It’s the one business
in the world in which you never have to worry about the economy. Everybody has to get rid of garbage whether you’re making any money
or not.”

And, with the prices of the big trucks, there’s plenty of green in the garbage business. A two-year-old demo model with low mileage sold for $180,000 compared to the $240,000 price of a brand new truck.
