Gary Bruce Straub
Gary Bruce Straub
Gary Straub, 66, of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at his residence due to a short battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 19, 1945, in New Brunswick, N.J. to the late William and Dorothy Francis (Dagger) Straub; and came to Lake Wales 50 years ago from New Jersey.
Gary was retired from the Lake Wales Medical Center in the food service department. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Lake Wales. He enjoyed Bluegrass music. He loved going to church especially revivals and dinner on the ground. Undoubtedly the man with the biggest heart in town.
Many knew him, just not long enough. He possessed an insight and perspective of life that few others will ever know. He listened to every word said to him and always had a smile. Gary touched all of us, each in different ways. I’m proud to say that he was my brother, a father, a husband and lastly, a friend to all. We will miss him dearly. The measure of our lives does not depend solely on how we lived, but how much we leave behind.
Gary is survived by his sons, Gary Bruce (wife Tammy) Straub, Jr. of Lake Wales, John Windham Straub of Plant City; brothers, Ronald R. “Ron” Straub Sr. of Indian Lake Estates, G. Keith Straub of Lake Wales; three grandchildren
