Dr. Dennis M. Varel, M.D., 55, of Lake Wales died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Orlando.

He was born on Jan. 25, 1957 in New York City to the late Angelo and Consuelo Varel and moved to Lake Wales fifteen years ago from Kissimmee. He was an anesthesiologist and of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife Kim P. Varel, children Lila Varel of Saint Cloud, Jonathan Varel, Emily Varel, and Ella Varel, all of Lake Wales, sisters Christine Sanchez, Yolanda Cernicky, and Chelly Methot, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, from at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. at Christ’s Church on the Move 2039 State Road 60 East, Lake Wales, with Pastor Steve Greshel officiating. A reception will follow.
