Soccer kicks off the weekend as Warner University men’s soccer finished off this past week with their season opener game against
the St. Leo Lions. The Royals were
defeated (3-0). The Royals traveled
to Tampa this past Thursday for
competition. St. Leo opened up
the first half of the game with a
goal giving the Royals a challenge
early on in the game. The Royals did a great job moving the ball down the field in the second quarter of the game. Leo Viala of the Royals had
two great saves in the second half of the quarter; however that was not enough to stop the Lions from advancing in their lead over the Royals with a second goal. Freshman Diego De la Fuente tried in a final effort to get the Royals back in the game with a penalty kick that was blocked by St. Leo. Warner also had great defensive moments with Jamie Bentio and Leonardo Acosta. The Royals have a long season ahead. Stay tuned and look out for the Royals.
