Church donation helps feed the homeless

The Homeless Coalition of Charlotte County stocks its pantry shelves with 28 cases of canned food worth $1,000, donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Port Charlotte. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Port Charlotte recently donated canned food worth $1,000 to the Homeless Coalition of Charlotte County.
The nonprofit coalition provides a free, hot, nutritious, morning and evening meal seven days a week to anyone in Charlotte County who is in need. The Homeless Coalition, 1476 Kennesaw St., Port Charlotte, provides services to prevent homelessness and hunger by assisting families and individuals who are in imminent danger of becoming homeless. Its programs include providing shelter and a food pantry open Fridays from 1 p.m.
to 4 p.m.
