MANASOTA KEY — Kendall Johnson could not find enough words to praise the Englewood Area Fire Control District’s response Wednesday morning to an electrical fire in a rear bedroom of his home.

“The Englewood firefighters lived up to everything that’s been written about them,” Johnson said Thursday. “They took out my wife’s doll collection so it wouldn’t get damaged. What fire department does that?”
