PUNTA GORDA — The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant on an inmate in the Charlotte County Jail on charges of lewd or lascivious battery. The warrant was served on Jeremy Cole Jackson, 18, 4600 block of LaGroce Drive, Punta Gorda. Major Crimes Unit detectives began their investigation in late May after the father, who lives in Deep Creek, reported his 14-year-old daughter became pregnant by her boyfriend, Jackson, sometime last January.

The girl, now 15, met with the CCSO forensic interviewer. Detectives then went to see Jackson at the Charlotte County Jail, where he’s been held since Jan. 31. He and two others were arrested in connection with 24 burglaries to churches, homes, vehicles and businesses east of Punta Gorda after a two-week crime spree. Jackson refused to talk to detectives and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Jackson remains in jail on no bond.
