NORTH PORT — On Friday, Josh Mote would have been 19 years old.

Instead of a birthday party, a celebration of his life is planned for 7 p.m. at the Yorkshire Street/Price Boulevard site where he suffered a massive head injury in a devastating February crash and later died. “We are never going to forget Josh,” said his mother, Erin Sechrest, who along with her other son, Krishna, 20, also was hospitalized for more than a month after the crash. “I was in a hospital bed while my son (Josh) was hooked to a life-support machine,” Sechrest said. “I left the hospital in Fort Myers to go to Blake Medical Center (in Bradenton, where Josh was), but only made it to the North Port ER before I was taken back to Lee Memorial Hospital. I was in bad shape. I wanted to help with funeral plans. It’s been awful for our family ever since that day.”
