School supplies still needed for festival

More than 1,000 children received the school supplies and services they needed to start school at last year’s Back to School Festival at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County in Port Charlotte. This year's event is set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, once again at the Cultural Center.

Again this year, Dr. David Klein will provide free eye screenings at the Back to School Festival. Others will provide free haircuts and spine screenings. The Charlotte County Health Department will set up appointments for free physicals and immunizations.

New school supplies herald the start of a fresh school year full of promise and excitement. The annual Back to School Festival held at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County makes sure area students have the supplies they need to get off to a good start.
