PUNTA GORDA — Johnny Worlds was driving a semi-truck from Tampa to Miami before dawn Thursday morning when he came upon a line of cars pulled onto the shoulder of Interstate 75 just south of Charlotte Harbor. As he slowed his rig, he noticed a woman pointing and waving frantically. That’s when he saw a body lying in the road, on its side, almost as if the person were taking a nap.

His rig rolled over the body and dragged it some distance before he was able to fully stop. Other than a pair of legs in black pants, Worlds said he couldn’t even recognize it as a human being when he finally got a look at it.
