City to celebrate its unique history

PUNTA GORDA — On
Dec. 7, 1887, 34 men gathered in the pool hall of the Tom Hector Building to decide an issue of great importance.

They were voting to usurp control over this town from its founder, Col. Isaac Trabue, by incorporating it as the city of Punta Gorda.
