NAPLES — Friday was the dawn of a new era at Palmetto Ridge: a new coach, the return of a rising star and the start of the season at home. Everything was in place for the Bears, but Lemon Bay’s Lucas Sparks spoiled the party.

The Manta Rays quarterback rushed for 159 yards, picked off a pass on defense, and broke two long touchdown runs to lead Lemon Bay to a 34-14 victory over Palmetto Ridge.
