FORT MYERS — Former Charlotte County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kenneth Barton pleaded guilty on Wednesday in a federal courtroom to one count of possession of child pornography in connection with his June arrest on the same charge.

Barton previously pleaded not guilty, but his attorney Thomas Marryott said Barton changed his mind because he felt it would be in his best interest. Barton faces the maximum sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and five years of probation.
