The Veteran Motor Car Club of America Southwest Florida Region is assisting the Patriot Riders of America in its third annual Patriot Day benefit event — the Veterans in Need Benefit Poker Run — by conducting a car show that is open and free to any year, make or model vehicle, including stock, modified, street, hot rods, rat rods, sports versions of automobiles and trucks. There are no entry, registration or parking fees. Simply drive to the Charlotte County Fairgrounds on State Road 776 in Port Charlotte (where the run will start and finish) between 10 a.m. and noon today to go to the reserved parking area. Several trophies will be awarded to choice old cars. For more information, call 941-916-1729. Pictured here, from left, are: Jim Key, Patriot Riders president, with his 2007 Harley-Davidson; Don Royston, president of the local VMCCA; Bob Mauti, owner of the 1959 Ford convertible; and Dan Myers, Patriot Riders vice president, with his 2006 Harley-Davidson.
