Desolation Fest moved to Sarasota
Desolation Fest, previously scheduled to be held at the skate park pavilion at Ann Dever Memorial Regional Park in Englewood, has been moved to Payne Skate Park, 2110 Adams Lane, Sarasota. The festival will be held from 5-10 p.m. today, Sept. 15, at Payne Park located just off U.S. Highway 301 south of Ringling Boulevard in downtown Sarasota. There is also a cover charge of $4.
The Englewood concernt was canceled because organizers failed to apply for permits until Friday afternoon, according to Charlotte County Community Services.
This is not the first time the event has been held there, and on the event Facebook page, Desolation Fest fans thanked Sarasota County Parks for allowing the festival to move there at such short notice. Event organizer Tyler Shelton wrote “Invite (expletive) everyone.” Another fan wrote, “Just want say thank you Payne Park for the previous events. Thanks for coming through on such short notice. Show must go on.” Zachary Lee Jenckes wrote, “Who cares if the crowd is small or big? Being able to play Desolation Fest is one of the greatest experiences any of the local metal bands can take a swing at.”
Josh Collins wrote, “I haven’t been to a show in so long. I’ve been waiting so long for this one. I don’t care where it is — I’ll be there.”
