NOKOMIS — Florida Highway Patrol officials expect the northbound outside lanes of Interstate 75 at the 200 mile marker to remain closed until at least 5 p.m. to repair damage to the roadway following an early morning wreck.

According to an FHP report, shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday, Bradford D. Lambert, 58, of Venice was driving a dump truck with a full load of gravel north on I-75, north of State Road 681 in the outside lane. Lambert, who had been wearing his seat belt and was not injured, told troopers that his front right tire blew out, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The truck spun around, then overturned, the report shows. It came to a final rest in the outside and center lanes on its passenger side. The dump truck’s load of gravel spilled in the outside northbound lane. The accident snarled drivers for hours on the highway. The dump truck was removed and the spilled gravel cleaned up by the afternoon, the FHP reported. No charges were filed.
