Boat ramp compromise for Englewood park
RENDERING PROVIDED BY CHARLOTTE COUNTY
This illustration shows how Bay Heights Park will look with a boat ramp. The Charlotte County Commission voted Tuesday to install a boat ramp at the park, but keep some of its mature oaks and more "passive" park features than originally planned.
MURDOCK — Bay Heights Park no longer will be the “passive” park it is now, but neither will it become a full-blown boat ramp with two lanes like Charlotte County’s public ramp in Placida.
Charlotte County commissioners voted 3-2 Tuesday for Option C, a compromise plan that calls for a single-lane boat ramp to be built at the park, but the park will retain most of its heritage oak trees and some of its more passive park features.
