NORTH PORT — As the 5,100-pound SUV pinned Brian Miles to the ground, crushing his ribs, he cried out for God’s help.
Miles, 37, was under his best friend’s 2002 GMC Envoy Sunday afternoon in North Port, fixing the transmission, when the parked vehicle rolled backward down the ramps, pinning him for more than five minutes. His 18-year-old son and Miles’ friend Paul LaGreca held part of the vehicle up as one of the young children who watched it happen ran to a neighbor’s house screaming for help. Meanwhile, Paul’s wife called 911.
