City nods to
bank’s bigger sign
PUNTA GORDA — A brick monument that has long stood in front of what is now the Centennial Bank downtown will get turned into a “grand sign” some three times taller and bigger than city code allows, thanks to a decision by City Council.
The council Wednesday voted 4-1 to grant a waiver allowing the bank at 401 Taylor St. to place a sign for the business on the monument. Councilman Bill Albers cast the dissenting vote.
