PORT CHARLOTTE — Sabrina Yawn initial­ly started her own bail bonds company, A Bility Bail Bonds, as a way to monitor her 30-year-old daughter, who has battled drugs, addiction and the law most of her life.

“She kept getting in trouble,” Yawn said. “She’s an addict. So to stay one step ahead of her, I became a bail bondswoman. That way I can help her and help other people. I’m the mother of an addict. I’ve (had her) arrested right at the Manatee County Courthouse. She’s in jail now, going through good rehab programs they offer there. Sometimes this work does pay — especially when you’re trying to save your child and you’re running out of options.”
