Above-normal rainfall during the summer rainy season has significantly improved water resources to levels not seen in more than seven years in the Southwest Florida Water Management District region.
According to Granville Kinsman, the district’s hydrologic data manager, areas north of the Tampa Bay area especially saw major improvements, but many of our area’s lakes, rivers and aquifers also have recovered after a four-year drought that started in 2005.
