City to host family Halloween events
NORTH PORT — The city will host two Halloween events for local families to enjoy — a party for young children and the annual “Trick or Treat at City Hall.” The public is encouraged to register now for the Mummies & Goblins Party for children up to age 5. The party will be from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 25 at the George Mullen Activity Center, off Sumter Boulevard near North Port City Hall. There will be a costume contest, make-and-take projects, games, cookie decorating and more. Cost is $3 per child. Space is limited and preregistration is required.
The city’s sixth annual Trick or Treat at City Hall, for children up to 13 years old, will be from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at City Hall, 4970 City Hall Blvd. off Sumter. All children must be dressed in costume in order to receive treats, and must be accompanied by an adult. There is no cost; however, the public is asked to bring a nonperishable food item to start stocking a local food pantry for the holiday season. For more information on either event, call (941) 429-PARK (7275) or email parks@cityofnorthport.com.
