Fine Arts Festival to feature Monet

Nobel Ensminger, with his Monet painting of the "Bridge at Argenteuil," originally painted in 1874, is among the local artists who will be featured in the ninth annual Fine Arts Festival: Monet at the Visual Arts Center, Punta Gorda. The month-long celebration starts Nov. 1 with a ribbon cutting and unveiling of the festival mural along with over 100 hundred pieces by local artists depicting the works of Claude Monet.

Jane Geronime chose to paint Monet’s 1878 "Morning on the Seine near Vetheuil," while Becky Van Pelt chose "Women in the Garden," originally painted in 1866.

Monet’s 1872 "The Regates a Argenteuil" was chosen by local artist Cynthia Hassall for this year’s festival.

Just a few of the many Monets that have been replicated by local artists: "The Japanese Bridge (The Water-Lily Pond)" by Marguerite Van Dooren, "Woman in a Green Dress" by Ron Reeves, and" Parliament at Sunset" by Fran Hines.
