NORTH PORT — At a recent Friends of Little Salt Spring meeting, Steve Koski, LSS site manager, resident archaeologist and University of Miami research associate, informed the group about another nearby site he hopes will be studied more extensively one day.
He calls it the “preserve land across the street” — 5 acres of undeveloped land near Hyder Terrace that, during the construction boom, was slated to become a small subdivision of 25 lots called Arcadia Terrace. The land backs up to a slough area and “the slough contains burials.”
